Start an Affinity Group - 2026

It’s time to start thinking about summer fun! Each year, The Grove launches one-time or short-term gatherings where people get together to do activities like disc golf, fishing, BBQs, or family beach days. Do you have an Affinity Group you’d like to lead? Register and create your group online by May 3. Let’s get creative!

Ground Rules

  1.  Affinity Groups will run 6/14 - 8/14. Please honor those dates. Setting up dozens of groups in our database takes a lot of time and effort. Thus, we cannot guarantee we will be ready before 6/14.
  2.  Don't meet at The Grove. These events are meant to be a time to get together outside the walls of our church. This also makes them the perfect opportunity to invite neighbors, coworkers, and families who aren't connected to a church.
  3.  Make it easy for participants. Affinity Groups can be a one-time thing or a reoccurring event, but make sure it isn't something that someone HAS to commit to a lot of time or energy to. The idea is to be fun, have camaraderie, and create community.

Tips to a Successful Affinity Group

  1. Be creative, BUT realistic. The majority of people will join a group that fits within their interests like pickleball or disc golf. Something like kite surfing will not appeal to the masses in the same way.
  2. Have extra equipment. Not everyone coming to your group will be an expert in that area and having extra equipment will encourage people to try something new and create and an even more welcoming environment.
  3.  Example of past successful groups: eating/trying new foods, sports that are approachable to all generations, and family-oriented events like cookouts, picnics, and game nights.

What will your group be doing together? What do you hope will happen during or as a result of this group?

Ex. gender, life stage, age, etc

Please include ALL the dates - including the start and end times.

Please include the address. If you will be meeting in multiple locations, list them all.

Please note: The Grove will not be collecting the money for your group. If there is an upfront fee (ex. reserving tickets), it will be up to the group leader to collect it.

Ex. sporting equipment, certain attire, etc.
